Shelterbox at Clockenflap

Rotary Club of Hong Kong South & Rotaract Club of Shouson Hill International

Hello fellow Rotarians and Rotaractors,

A couple of months ago, Rotarian Martin Roeth from the Rotary Club of Hong Kong South shared with our Rotaract Club his vision of building up a Shelterbox Response Team in Hong Kong.

We were excited about this project from the beginning and got a chance to assist by presenting Shelterbox at the alternative music festival “Clockenflap” in Kowloon West Cultural District, Hong Kong, in December.

One of our jobs was to organize the transportation of the actual ‘shelterboxes’ to the site. Our local member Mckimmie quickly made some calls and arranged the pick-up of the massive boxes, which weigh about 50 kg each.

Setting up the Shelterbox tent at the Clockenflap site turned out to be quite adventurous. Luckily, everybody proved themselves as experienced campers and finally our booth was ready to go despite strong winds. Afterwards we started our promotional work for Shelterbox. With the contents of the shelterboxes as well as posters and flyers put on display, visitors quickly became interested casino online in our booth.

We informed a lot of people about what Shelterbox does and what the advantages of the organization are. The responses were great: Many people expressed their desire to get involved and donate money or even send used tools and other useful things.

The whole team did a great job during the two days of the festival and we are convinced that we helped raise awareness for the great project ‘Shelterbox’ here in Hong Kong.

Special thanks to: Rotarians Martin Roeth and Chris Dundan and Rotaractos Cansu Tuba Cakir, Catharina Dreyer, Lennart Hector, Martin Kehlert, Mckimmie Lam, Max Große-Lutermann, Benjamin Witting and Christian Wiesner.
